About me

Hi, my name is Alex König!
I love building software, systems, teams and all kinds of other stuff. My career started as a Linux admin, then came systems engineering, DevOps and being a tech lead. These days I am a Senior Solutions Architect at AWS, working on software and systems architecture, focussing on AI.

I guess you could say the path I took influenced how I work.
If you run the servers your architecture ends up on and get paged at night when something you designed and built yourself breaks, you really start caring about good architecture.
Due to too many sleepless nights, resilience and reliability now have a special place in my work.
Before thinking about those, one thing is even more important: providing value to your customers. If working at Amazon taught me one thing, it is to obsess over that. I can only recommend doing the same.

Along the way I built and launched a managed Kubernetes service, led engineering teams, designed systems that other people's businesses run and depend on, and advised executives on their strategy. Right now I mostly work on AI and agentic engineering, as there is so much new stuff to learn, build, try out and think about. All of which I enjoy a lot.

I like to share what I know and learn at conferences. If you see me there, feel free to say hello and have a chat with me.
Organizing a conference and looking for speakers?
Get in touch: I speak about system architecture, cloud strategy, AI and leadership.

Outside of work, I like to spend time with my family and friends, work out every day before work, bake bread, do some gaming, read a good book (likely about tech) or tinker with tech even more in my lab.

I use this page to share blog articles from time to time. There is no cadence to that, which is also why I do not have an email newsletter right now. None of the articles are written by AI. If you see a dash in there, I have placed it myself.

Images and illustrations on this site may be generated with AI.

Feel free to reach out to me either via LinkedIn or email.

While I work at AWS, this site's tech stack might change frequently, as I try out various services and learn new things.
